When You Can’t Stop Laughing . . .

Ain’t it funny how when you’re not supposed to laugh, you can’t stop? I mean, you can be in a perfectly normal, calm situation, and all of a sudden something unexpected happens. It doesn’t even have to be an uproarious something–someone blowing their nose, for example–and suddenly you are wrapped up in fits of giggles and there’s nothing you can do about it. The more you try to stifle the snorting, the worse it gets.

Yeah. I actually love those moments. Mascara-running-down-my-face notwithstanding. They make great memories and bring up repeat gales of laughter upon recalling them.

Plus, don’t you just feel totally cleansed and refreshed after a good, solid, muscle-control-tossed guffaw? I do. And since I’m always one to share, here’s a bit of a refreshing blast for you. It’s a clip of an adorable German weather-woman, losing it on air. (Shout out to my brother to get on here and translate for us in the comments section!):

Now it’s your turn. Tell me about a time when you utterly and completely lost it. The more solemn the occasion, the better. 🙂

My greatest pleasure in life has been raising my four excellent children--some of whom liked me so much that they keep coming back. My second greatest pleasure has been doing whatever I can to make people laugh and create bright moments. I hope to do a bit more good in the world before I go the way of it. And if not, I'd better at least get to spend some serious time writing and singing in a castle somewhere in the UK.

  1. OK— who needs the translation??? Laughter is infectious- just seeing her lose it made me start to giggle and then laugh with her!! Hilarious… thanks for making my very dreary day a lot brighter!!

  2. Janiel- that was so good. And she has such a pretty laugh! ha- I wish I sounded like that.

O.K. here’s my worst/best laugh story. I was 18, my sister 16. It was our first sacrament meeting at a new ward and I hadn’t noticed that the deacons were passing on both sides of the rows and therefore they were ‘skipping’ every other row. I lifed my hand to partake and the boy manuevered the tray away from me and passed me by, while i stared dumbfounded, like I’d been slapped. I turned to my sister, she pulled a face at me and we both lost it in silent giggles. It wasn’t the best first impression we’ve ever made.

  3. Carol – you are right! Laughter is so infectuous. And I love this woman’s laugh. It’s adorable. Sorry you were having a dreary day, and I’m this made it better!

Darcee–Great story. I am the worst in church. If I can’t laugh, I HAVE to. 🙂

  4. That was so funny to watch!. Here’s a translation, the best I could do between the laughter:
